18 May Proud that Front Door Friday has raised thousands for The Samaritans

We urge the industry to spare a thought for those not having such a good day this Mental Health Awareness Week…

When we launched our Front Door Friday campaign, we always knew that it could go a long way toward helping those in need. As we mark Mental Health Awareness Week, we really wanted to bring this campaign to the fore. This year, our nominated charity is the Samaritans, and – so far – we have raised over £22,800!

Every year the property industry helps thousands of people complete their house sale or purchase, which mostly take place on a Friday. However, while for many, this may be a time of celebration, we should all spare a thought for those who aren’t having such a good day. Through the campaign, we commit to donating at least £1 for every completion we handle, and we also ask house movers if they would like to donate at the point of completion.

Samaritans’ support services are available round the clock, providing a safe place for anyone who’s struggling to cope, and who needs someone to listen without judgment or pressure. Every 10 seconds, Samaritans respond to a call for help. Funding is needed to support the costs to run its services and train volunteers. For example, £10 will cover the cost of two calls to its helpline, and £96 could train and support an existing Samaritans volunteer for a whole year.

At ASAP, we really want the industry to come together to help to ensure that every call is answered. With well over one million residential properties sold a year, just imagine how much could be raised!
